A public archive with a century of maps and photographs wanted more people to use it. We renamed the collection, drew an identity from its own index cards and built a site where every record reads like a page.

The brief

Visitors found the archive only when they already knew what they were looking for. The brief was to make browsing feel worth it, for students and for people with an afternoon to spare.

What we did

Naming and positioning workshops, a type-led identity built on the archive's own card grid, and a reading-first website with a search that suggests a starting point instead of returning a list.

What we measured

Example measure: monthly archive visits and records opened per visit, tracked from launch
